On December 5, 2022, the BBK Federal Committee (Federal Board and BBK Regional Associations) unanimously adopted the "Guidelines for Fees" for visual artists. With this, the BBK Federal Association provides a well-founded recommendation for the appropriate remuneration of visual artistic services, specifically tailored to the profession of visual artists.
Only with appropriate fees can visual artists develop their effectiveness in the long term at a qualitatively high level. The fields of activity of visual artists go beyond the creation and exhibition of works of art. The Guideline Fees is the necessary further development of the Guideline Exhibition Remuneration 2021.
The guideline also serves as a guideline for decision-makers in politics and administration. The recommended lower fee limits must be anchored in binding public funding guidelines - at the federal, state and municipal levels - and cultural funding must be aligned accordingly. His in publicly funded art projects will also help to enforce appropriate remuneration for artistic services in the privately funded cultural sector. The guidelines do not apply to galleries and the art trade.
Great thanks go to the Landesverband Bildende Kunst Sachsen e. V. for the initiative in developing the first draft and to the AG Honorare with the BBK state associations for the constructive and enriching discussion on this guideline.
